Best wishes to former Griffin Michael Nylander as he recovers from a fractured vertebrae sustained during Grand Rapids’ 4-1 win at Rochester last Saturday. During the second period, Nylander fell awkwardly into the corner boards following a legal check by Derek Meech (not Brendan Smith, as he has been misidentified by media outlets from sea to shining sea). He skated off on his own power while play continued but, obviously, did not return to the game.
As reported on the Americans’ web site yesterday, Nylander underwent successful surgery on Monday and is expected to make a full recovery, although the 38-year-old’s season is over.
Glad to hear you’ll be okay, Michael. Get well soon.
