As most fans know by now, the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack will change their name to the Connecticut Whale sometime during the upcoming season. They can only hope that the play of the renamed team will be sharper than the logo that was unveiled today. Not sure where to start – was the stick really necessary? is that water from a blowhole, sweat, or an untamed eyebrow? why does it appear to be holding a left-handed stick when it shoots right? – so we’ll just revert to momma’s advice: if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
And speaking of Hartford, a former member of the Whalers (and Flames and Lightning and Blackhawks and Bruins and Rangers and Capitals and Griffins, oh my!) has found his newest home in Grand Rapids’ own North Division, as Michael Nylander today was loaned by Washington to the Rochester Americans.
